I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and grew up as Elodia Saavedra in Central California. At age three I read my first real book, Debbie's Visit to the Countryside. After that, I was hooked.
maybe I could write about a Debbie of my own someday, and it was in his class that I first decided I wanted to be a writer.
minored in English at BYU, where I learned how to write copy for advertisements and even wrote an award-winning advertisement touting the absorbency of athletic sweatbands.
heartbroken, I turned to my friends: books. The Debbies I read about now were a little older and a lot funnier, and I learned how powerful books can be when they combine humor and inspiration.
were giving me this gift, and I wanted to do the same for others. So I took some time away from writing ads and set out to write stories with humor, warmth, and a little romance.
with a trial or a trouble may pick up something I wrote and be given a laugh, or a moment where her heart is touched. Then I will have done the job I hope to do as a writer.
